Frequent Questions about Medical Imaging
Q.1.- What is a 3D/4D Ultrasound?
A. A 3D/4D ultrasound is a new technology that allows easy visualization of the area scanned. 3D ultrasound is mostly used to evaluate the specific characteristics of a fetus, where the ultrasound equipment transmits sound waves in three different dimensions by a special type of transducer, These sound waves are then received to produce a 3D image on the screen. In 4D imaging, the same process as 3D is used with the added feature of time which correlates to motion (movie-like).
Is it safe to have a 3D/4D Ultrasound?
A. Yes. Extensive studies conducted by several different labs have shown that ultrasound has not caused harm to mother or fetus.
What is the best time to schedule my 3D/4D Ultrasound?
A. A 3D/4D ultrasound can be done at any time during the pregnancy, however, the best time is between 25 to 36 weeks of gestation. The facial features are more developed and there is still enough amniotic fluid to obtain good images.
Are your technologists accredited?
A. Yes. Our technologists are accredited by the American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) which is the highest accreditation for an ultrasound technologist. We also have over 10 years of experience specializing in Obstetrics Ultrasounds.
Can my family and friends be present during my Ultrasound?
A. Definitely. Unlike the ultrasounds done at your doctor’s office, this is a non-diagnostic procedure done purely for your enjoyment. We encourage you to invite your close friends and family, including your other children. It initiates an early bond and allows them to feel included in this cherished time.
